The legendary Motorhead guitarist, Phil Campbell and the Bastard Sons unleashed their new album on the world yesterday. To celebrate the release of the album, they held a very intimate gig at the Youtube Space, London in front of a specially invited crowd. Even more amazingly, Metal Wales was there to experience it.
Herded into a small studio space at the venue, the band was set up and ready to rock. Lots of cameras, lights and instructions given by Youtube. No flash photos, no filming and no going live during the set.
Metal journo Malcolm Dome introduced the band, surrounded by some taller (and fatter fans). The cameras pan across to Phil, his boys and singer Neil launching in to their track Big Mouth.
Even though the audience in front of the band was small, the band still gave it their all. Seven tracks followed including classics from Motorhead and Hawkwind. A great set and great sound from a great Welsh band.
As a thank you for the travelling fans, the boys played Going to Brazil and Ace of Spades as an encore that regrettably wasn’t on the stream. It was an amazing experience that was never to be forgotten. An utter classic of an evening and if you missed it then watch the set back on the YouTube video above.
Thanks to Todd, Tyla, Dane, Neil and of course the legend that is Mr Phil Campbell.
The boys will be playing the 2018 Steelhouse Festival later this year. For tickets visit : www.steelhouserocks.com
