The threat to live music venues in Cardiff has been lifted thanks to you and the campaign to Save Womanby Street.
A post on Facebook from the campaigners wants to let you know what has happened in the last six months.
It is incredible to see what we have won by standing up for our venues.
So what have you won?
1, Cardiff Council to buy the derelict building next to Clwb Ifor Bach, – protecting all music venues on Womanby Street
2, The council to develop a live music strategy with help of Cardiff music industry, – protecting all music venues in Cardiff
3, Welsh Government to make “Agent of Change” policy for all of Wales in Spring 2018 – protecting all music venues in Wales!
This is an amazing achievement thanks to everyone’s effort and support. The protections that you have won will affect us all.
HOWEVER the fight is far from over. We have won protections, we must now fight for support for all our music venues.
In the new year, we will be launching the next steps of SWS but until then, a big thank you to!
I certainly hope that the events in Cardiff will help all music venues in the UK realise that live music is a massively important part of our culture and that there are things out there that will help you beat the rap!
